This happened to me, I also had water get inside which killed the battery so for me simply that had to be replaced, other than that fingers crossed hopefully your remote box should have the same issue.
I sent mine off to Regton, quick repair and turn around, highly recommend
B-)
Best of luck

Having ignored the requirement for the Deus control module to be water-proofed at one of the many design stages, XP must surely realise it is now seen as a huge failing on their part. For a company which in many respects, has proved to be innovative and a front runner in terms of detector design, it is quite remarkable to say the least, especially so when one considers that Garrett have not only observed such a requirement but attended to it in their sub £500 model the AT Pro.
Could it possibly be, that at some stage an 'up-rated' fully waterproof Deus will enter the market at a premium price? Surely not!
So come-on XP, you're letting your Deus user's and your reputation down
.
I should add that I'm neither a Deus or an AT Pro user but at the same time have full respect for XP as a very happy Goldmaxx Power user. Regards ss47 - (now fully dismounted from high horse)!

I've seen a U Tube clip of a boy in the US who left his controller in his pocket and his mum put it through a full wash cycle.
He took it apart and left it in dry rice and hey-presto six/eight weeks later put it back together and it worked.... Might be worth a try....

Do not put it in rice, it still leaves behind, tds total dissolved solids, which are conductive the rice will remove water, but not the precipitate left behind. you can put it in deionised water which is not electrically conductive to to dilute the tds which causes the damage oxidisation to electrically conductive components.
Send it to regton or another repair professional!
