Another fibular....i think?

I recently posted some photos of a Brooch asking if it was Roman and i am now sure that it is!
I found this in the same field on my last outing,it looks like a fibular with the coiled spring type arrangement.
However i am baffled as to what that extra bit is on the right hand side pointing downwards(pic 1)???
Any clues?

indeed its part of a fibula brooch
