Nice find at Fleetwood tonight

A merchant navy badge. Was quite deep and under a lot of stone. It seems to have some age to it. Fleetwood is a maritime town, so a fitting find

Not sure what it was used for as it does not seem to be missing anything, but doesn't have any way to attach.

This is the kind of thing I like to find, it's funny that most people that you talk to about detecting want to know if you have found anything "good" which usually means valuable.

I feel the same as you, a lot of people ask about Silver or Gold, diamond Rings etc. Others are only interested in coins.
Me, I prefer other things, junk stuff as most would call it. I love history of an item rather than it beautiful bling or value.

I have had a few of them over the years. They seem to mostly be of WW2 vintage and originally had a crescent shaped piece on the back for fitting into a lapel buttonhole.
