Hi all, we just returned from our two weeks holiday from Perranporth beach in Cornwall. I received permission again from the council that runs the beach there to detect the beach which I did every early morning and evening. This year I exceeded all expectations with over £100 found plus toys, some bling and the find of the week a gold ring. I reported it on the Devon and Cornwall police found web site. But at this time there has been no report of a lost ring after the date found. So as in past years I have shot a short video (Link Below) of the finds, but not showing the ring as I want the rightful owner to claim it if possible. There were lots of detectorists on the beach each day, around 5 with 10 of us a week last Tuesday evening. I spoke with a lot of them, most were local and two I have met a few times before. One person in particular, Fred a retired chap who I met around 5 years ago who has been detecting for 40 years + and always had some wonderful stories and tips. The dry sand on this beach is fine and Fred uses a pick type tool to dig out his finds (it’s a WWI tool) I gave this some thought before going this year and made my own, be it a modern version from a pound shop which worked very well. As some of you know I have been involved in a historical visitor attraction in the next village local to me. It’s called Heage windmill.(http://www.heagewindmill.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) It was built in 1797 and restored and run by a society made up of volunteers. It’s the only working six sailed windmill in the UK and has a visitor centre and shop. It has won awards and had a royal visit. I have a display in the centre of local finds I made last year. I gave a talk to the society after handing over the finds and pledged to make it my charity for the year. Their next project is to build an education centre next to the visitor centre. I was invited by my good friend John (old artefact) for a day’s detecting at the Humber bridge earlier this year where he has been a few times. A great day out and we found a few pounds between us (well John got the most but I did get a musket ball from the low tide point). John donated all he had found to my charity pot. This along with the above will be presented to the society mid-September. Thanks mate…
Thanks for looking

Hi Rob ... as usual a very entertaining video.. and a Gold medal result in my book. I think that the windmill society are going to be very pleased with your generosity.
One thing I cant understand is the lack of fishing weights, you have found everything else (except the kitchen sink!)

Hi Dave and John thanks for your comments. As for fishing weights, I have never seen anyone fishing on that beach ??? I know some do it up and down that coast from rocky areas.
