Plastic sand scoop

Post by Chalkey »

I was looking at plastic sand scoops on eBay etc £9 - £15. So I bought a plastic animal feed scoop from equestrian store but also can be found on eBay .drilled pilot holes then bigger holes about 6mm .went over all the holes with a lighter to debur them.absolutely superb £2.95...buy a few & knock em out to your mates. Win win. Cheers. Chalkey

I did the same.

Don't use it much. Find a spade easier with less bending down. However it had its use on nice powdery sand.

Did see Maplin were sell off their scoops for less than a fiver and are now discontinued

Good machine you have there. Designed in the 80's still holds its own against today's machines. You normally can get away on some wet beaches. Turn the disc up slightly yes you will loose small gold. And use a very slow sweep speed. Another you can do is use the pinpoint mode keep the coil the same height above the ground. You will be able to tell the sharp sound vs the chatter. Around puddles and wet rocks will be a no go zone. Even damp sand should be doable if not ideal.
