The sandwiches idea sounds good!
Hope you find a buddy and here is an excellent topic from one of our members that is well worth reading. http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... 18&t=91225" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Welcome to the forum,finding permissions around the SE London are is always going to be much harder than living out in the country side,of course its a very nice offer of sandwiches,but you have left out alot of vital information like do you drive,are you willing too take turns in driving,would you be willing to go door knocking as well looking for new permissions for yourself and your potential new buddy.

These type of things in my mind are far more important than sandwiches,of course this is only my thoughts and some suggestions that may help you,once you find a buddy then by all means provide some nice tasty sarnies.

I of course wish you lucky finding a buddy,but initially it can be demoralizing waiting to get your 1st permission,but if you hang on in you will find it does get easier.
