Those cannonballs are awesome. Who could not enjoy holding a cannonball in their hand. I bet your finds pouch was under pressure :))

1.8ft is very impressive. I'm guessing its a P.I. machine?

Thanks for sharing and good luck on your next hunt ::g

Finds of note in 2022 - You know that thing you do when you pull your pockets out to show there's nothing in there? You get the idea.

I would love to find a decent cannonball. Also they are probably worth about £30 each as ornaments so you have left the best part of £1,000 on the beach. Mind you you have probably avoided a hernia. ::g :D .

Yep some were down at 2ft (sorry forgot to put details in first post!)

Using a C scope CS4PI, at "3 o clock settings" balls ranged from 6" down to 2 ft, nasty wet cement like sand. Dig tip, create a dam of sand around the hole to stop surface water ingress, makes life much easier when you can do it.

Lol at Fred - I am just recovering from a hernia (maybe it was digging on the beach!) and I now have 46 balls here in my stash! Just need to wait 2-3 years whilst they soak :(

That's amazing and I was delighted to find my first in my garden a few years ago but are you detecting on an old naval range or similar!! I'd be recovering as many as poss and selling them! :)
As the Germans 'might' say:-

"SchvinginbleepindigginundFindenstuff!!!"

new XP Deus/11in coil: 1 silver sixpence 1 foot down!! most impressive.

Hello 'Bully1970' Cannon Shot! Very nice finds! ::g Hope the hernia is under control now. ::g
The u/l above does seem to be a pretty rare condition but resilience helps cope with almost anything we encounter:D
Thanks for posting and Good Luck. Regards ss47
