Mudlarking NOT on the Thames

Post by ozzy1977 »

Are there restrictions on mudlarking other rivers, I know that for the Thames a permit is needed but what about others?

Depends on the river; coastal/tidal rivers often belong to the Crown, but smaller and inland rivers have more complicated title. As a general rule, they belong to the landowners through whose property they flow, and if properties are separated by a river, ownership is usually interpreted as extending to the middle of the river. Hope that helps.

Short answer, everything belongs to somebody and permission is still vital.
