Hello 'jeff 001' The 'Sov GT' is a particularly competent machine on salt-wet sand. As with all Minelab machines, a slow sweep speed is recommended. The 'GT' is heavier than the average detector but some type of harness rig will improve the effects. The main question must be - is it working correctly and is the battery still capable of holding sufficient charge for a 'session'.
Any other beach related questions will probably be found in the 'Beach/Rivers' sub forum on the left and I know there are quite a few on this model.
The 'GT' usually hold's it's s/h value very well so keep this in mind. The fact that it is a mate selling it bodes well but nevertheless.....!! Good Luck

A disservice is no service at all.
