Exmouth buddy
Hi looking for buddy to show me the ropes as it were . Im a total newbie and looking for my first detector as we speak . Would be great to find experienced detectorist to learn from . I’m based in exmouth give me a shout if you think you fit the bill .
Hi, I am a newbie too, based near Cullompton. I have at least got a detector!
Do you have any permissions or have any idea where you are going to go detecting?
Also what age group are you, I am an older guy (59)

No permissions yet like I said I’m a total newbie to detecting and to the area so as for experience none to speak of .suppose I should have said more clearly in opening post . I’m 40 m from exmouth can drive ect . I know little to nothing about history or coin identification but I have a large tea flask and lunch box and eager to learn

I am new to this as well, but if I lived in Exmouth I would be going down to the beach.
If you go onto the sub forum in the blue margine to the left and look in Beaches and rivers there are some useful posts and right at the top it tells you about the rules and how to get permition from Crown Estates.
I am currently exchanging email with someone in your neck of the woods who does tuition, if you want to know how that turns out drop me a line.
Good luck.

Hi rah just looked into crown estate permissions. I emailed them directly and there reply was I don’t need one as they have retired there permits for the moment . So for the near future at least I’m ok on that front . But thanks for bringing this to my attention as a total newbie myself I didn’t even know about this . Glad I joined this forum before wandering of with a detector .

I am finding the rules, laws and bureaucracy that surround our hobby of digging holes in the countryside and finding things mind blowing!
Just read some of the story’s in the sub forum under the heading of Hoard.

Thanks for that Pilly
It certainly had me thinking, most of my own land is in the entry level scheme.
We have chosen a hobby that should be simply to participate in, but like everything else in this country it has become ring fenced by rules, laws and bureaucracy.
