TORQUAY MEET

Post by Ratpack »

Hi

I recently joined the forum and posted on here TORQUAY NEWBIE) looking for advice and help as regards metal detecting in general, choice of detector (probably for wet sand) and also to locate clubs in the Torquay area and found lots of info on the site.

The clubs all seem to be either full, not taking on new members or are unable to contact !!!

I wondered if there were any people in the Torquay area who wanted to meet up for a chat.

I wouldnt be put off a faint heart never won a fair maid ..
This is what the southwest searchers say
"WE CURRENTLY HAVE NO MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR OUR CLUB
WE CAN HOWEVER PLACE YOU ON OUR WAITING LIST SHOULD A VACANCY ARISE
WE MEET EVERY 3RD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 8PM
VENUE :THE RAILWAY CLUB,MULLET ROAD,LAIRA ,PLYMOUTH, PL3 6TD"

What I would do is to tag along to a few of their meetings ... dont be shy when you get there, bide your time, show the guys how keen you are, and keen to help.. you may get in alot quicker than you think. But send them an e-mail asking to join, and you'll probably end up at the bottom of the pile for quite a long time.
Nothing to lose, I would be going for it.
Good luck.

Never hurts to try a little harder than others and the only worst response can be a no and even better a yes we "now" have a place free.

Hi

Believe me in all my life I have NEVER been slow in coming forward.

However I take your point.

Simply trying at this point in time to locate information, people and clubs, hence the posts, but really would like to find people and clubs a little nearer home.

I am membership secretary for South West Searchers.
Most of our digs are in the South Hams area.
Our last dig was in Exeter yesterday.

If you are able to regularly attend our Monthly meetings in Plymouth and are able to attend our digs on Sundays then send me a PM.

I anticipate we may well be taking on a limited amount of new members in the next couple of months.

Membership is fifteen pounds per year and includes membership to the NCMD of which our club is affiliated.
