Teignmouth / Exmouth beach detecting?

Post by Rob42233 »

Hi all
I've been away from detecting for the best part of 40 years(!!!) but now that I've retired I've decided to give it another bash.
I'm visting my son in Exeter this weekend and was thinking of trying out a couple of local beaches... Teignmouth, Exmouth, etc. I understand that councils now have the power to introduce byelaws restricting access. Can anyone tell me if there are any restrictions on these, and other local, beaches please?
Thanks
Rob

Hello 'Rob', welcome aboard the forum. If it's not a Crown Estates area of jurisdiction, your best bet would be to contact the two councils for any conditions that may have been recently imposed. Departments concerned are likely to be 'Parks and open spaces' or 'Recreations'. Good Luck.::g Regards ss47

I'm in Teignmouth and all the local beaches (Teignmouth, Shaldon,Torbay) are all purple on the crown estates map so normal rules apply. I've checked the council websites too and the only beach listed as not permissible is Dawlish Warren beach because of the dunes and nature reserve. Late, but hope it's helps. Steve
