A Kings Crown RAF cap badge, found at a local American airbase :)

==================================================

Another of my favourites, is this WW2 brass name-badge that I also found on the airbase. I done some research, and established that the gentleman served at the base during WW2. I managed to track down his family, but sadly they were not interested in the badge... infact they never even replied to my emails!

This upset me, as it seemed that the guy had been totally forgotten. There was no way that I could keep the badge in my personal collection, so I donated it to the local museum, and they now have it on display for all to see :)

That's so sad that they didn't bother replying after you put in the effort to track them down :(

But maybe it's in a better place for people to appreciate it now anyway :)

Thanks for sharing! I'm very much enjoying looking at all these pictures :D

.....but it's all packed at the minute as I am moving house. The two cabinets shown are only about 1/10th of my relic collection, every single item having been dug by my own hand.

I have been collecting for about 15 years now, mainly on old airbases, army camp sites, POW sites and ranges here in the UK, but also abroad every once in a while.

I hope to help out fellow relic collectors on this forum, hence why I've joined :) I think I already know a fair few of you !

Cheers

Woah that is so much stuff! :) All these pics are making me want to go out and find something of my own hehe :) I don't have any military places around me I don't think :( I'll have to badger my dad into doing some research and asking for new permission :D

Thanks for sharing :D

Hay Chopper. I'm South East London. Blackheath.

I used to belong to a collectors club and there were a few blokes there who used to go on digs in France. They had an ammo tin with chocolate from WW1, some of the stuff they had found was amazing. We used to show are collections once a year at the local museum. I mainly collected Civil Defence stuff then. I moved and stopped attending the meeting so I lost tuch with them :(

Found this under the lawn of an old large house, may have been used by the Army in the war?

and found this one near an old prisoner of war camp, my best find I think!

Lovely badge! I don't know where you are but if you get the chance, see if you can get onto an old prisoner of war camp. I've had some great finds from there. Have a look at my posts. Finding German military stuff on British soil is pretty exciting. All the best and I hope you find more. Andy. :)
