I sometimes wonder about people I really do. This guy put his own life and everyone around him in danger.
Craiga wrote: On a club dig a few years back I asked one of the lads if he had found anything and he was still smiling when he dropped a handgrenade in my hand........ To say I wasn't amused would be an understatement. When I gave him it back he put it in his pocket and carried on detecting. Took another hour before we as a club persuaded him to put it in the hedge. The farmers dec ision as he didn't want the drama of the bomb squad and all that.............
I am sorry to say I find this extremely irresponsible. What on earth would you think if a child found it and blew themselves to bits ???? I find it even stranger that the 'club' as a whole took this decision. Whatever happened to being responsible ?

If you find any live ordnance, get the EOD to deal with it. Don't re-bury it, put it in a hedge, up a tree, in a pond/river or down a well. It needs making safe, not putting somewhere to be found by someone else.

I really don't care what the farmers wishes were. If you find it, get it dealt with.

Rant over....
