Find for ID

Post by 3pinplug »

Hi all
Got a few hours out today with the CS4ZX and found my first 20mm cartridge case (very pleased) , some drive bands, usual .303's and the items in the attached photos-

First photo - keep finding these but no idea what they are, anyone know?.

Second photo - any ideas if this is military?
Its 23.5mm tall, 31mm (OD) at widest point & 23mm at narrowest point. It has 3 holes around the outside at the base, each of these holes is 3mm in diameter and a 7.5mm hole in the top. The item is hollow so thought it may be some sort of cap? Also has a groove running round the outside which is visible in the photo.
Any help very much appreciated.
Many thanks
Mark

Hi
Yes know what you mean the domehead type roofing nails. Not sure at mo though as none of them (got 14 of them) have got a sharp point on the bottom, but its a good call.
Thanks
Mark

Top one is definitely a roofing rivet, I have used thousands of them when I was in the building trade. http://www.roofingsuperstore.co.uk/prod ... lates.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bottom item doesn't remind me of anything military. It does however remind me of a football boot stud :) :)

Don't chuck Copper in the Bin!! It fetches bloody good money at scrap!

Hi Trotboy,
Hadn't consider that, will have to sort out some bins in the garage and start saving some bits and then cashing them in. Your right every bits adds up, many thanks
