Excellent display.

It's a shame that German dogtags are virtually impossible to trace back to the original owner. The German government will only disclose such info to relatives of the soldier. You can find out the unit to which the soldier belonged, but that's usually about it for tracing German dogtags. The ones I have have now all been traced to units, but no further.

:) :)

Maybe it was deliberately cut from the buckle? Very nice display of finds also. ::g

I wonder if there are any web sites for old comrades from german units that served in WW2?

Interesting finds...there was a POW Camp not far from me..the buildings are still there and I cannot get permission to hunt that area..however I have permission to hunt the area that once had the Guards Quarters..that field is hydro seeded so they do not plough..when the light is right you can still make out the road around the camp.

I found 3 German Badges..some .45 rounds and a hand made ring..

Dean,
Any chance you can post photos of the badges you found?
