Big lead bullet for ID

Post by GySi »

Hi all,could 1 of you experts tell me what these bullets where fired from i have found 20+ of these at Humberstone, at the low tide mark close to a couple of wrecks(possibly used as targets?) The base measures 24-25mm,height is 65mm and they weigh just short of 10 ounces,and are made from lead any info would be greatly appreciated
Regards Simon.

Found these - " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
These heavy projectiles, 65mm in length, were found in the coastal mud at Seasalter in Kent. They were used as ranging rounds by anti-aircraft batteries situated along the coastline during WW2.

Yep your probably right DM.

I think Humberstone is an area near Hull ?

My Dad who is still going strong was on anti -aircraft bofors guns at several places around Hull in WW2 .
I use a CS3MX and my mighty Minelab Etrac !
