Another Good Beach Trip Lot To Look At :-)

Post by fishy »

Two morning beach sessions, about 6 hrs in total.

My favourite areas are a no go at the moment, loads of sand washed up covering everything ;;z

I have however found a new area that seems to hold lots of goodies, when that gets washed out I should be getting loads of cool stuff :D

Safari seemed happy to run at full sensitivity this time.

A picture I took of some crusty bits before sticking them in the homemade tumbler.
I read on here about someone using fish tank grit so I went and got some.
Highly recommend it ::g

Image

A quick mix in some brick acid then just grit and water to clean it all up.

Homemade Tumbler Still Going Strong (will make a new video) - -> " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

End result.

The projectile is a set of 2inch mortar fins :)

I'm no expert but I think the projectile may be the tail of a mortar.

The little lead guy looks like a WWI pilot to me; but then maybe not!

Your fin is the remains of a 2 inch mortar fin. You also have the base of a 2 inch smoke mortar in your main picture, (top right, brass thingy with a threaded bolt coming out the bottom......that's where the fin would have screwed to :) ). Your cartridges are 303s :)

Picture of a few complete fins attached so you can see what it should have looked like :)

PS The clip to the left of the mortar base is a stripper clip for .30 calibre rifle cartridges. It held 5 when full :)

No problem. Pleased to help :) :)

Here is a picture of a full stripper clip, used to reload Springfield and 1917 Enfield rifles, (amongst others), with .30-06 calibre rifle rounds.

:) :)

There should be a makers mark and, if you're lucky, calibre on the base of the clip. Give it a clean :)
