hi guys, was wondering if someone would know what calibre this part cartridge is or its origin :-/ i think its what is known as a "Rimmed Necked" but has no markings on the base that i can see, i have placed it with a 5.56 Blank for sizing.

It's almost certainly a 303, so long as you found it in England that is. Could be something else if found on mainland Europe.

thanks for the reply, i know its a hard ask to id this, my 1st thought was 303 but could it be a cartridge from a Mauser rifle as this would fit the area it was found in from around the date 1912, if not then 303 it is :D

cheers

Kevin

Nope, mausers used rimless cartridges. The Russians used some rimmed carts, as did the French, but without a headstamp It's impossible to be certain it is a 303. 95% certainty isn't bad though!
