Prichard Bullet

Post by argus »

I found a lead bullet 0.55" (14.1mm.) diameter and 26mm. long the lead surface is white. I have found 12 of musket balls in the same area

it has been fired there are rifling marks along its sides

it is like a minie ball but does not have the annular grooves

Searching the web I have found pictures of a Prichard bullet here is a link -
http://leonardservice.wix.com/mud-hoove ... g/image7sv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

apparently they date from around 1850

does anyone out there have any further info.

Thanks Oliver

I may have got the name of the bullet type wrong there is a Pritchett bullet that looks exactly the same, Prichard may be an american error they were used in the civil war.
