Did you have to give a statement to the police and are they going to feedback to you about the gun?

Thanks for the comments ::g

Yes I'm glad I followed the course of action that I did, as some of you have pointed out it was cocked and full of mud so a young kid pulling the trigger could have lost a hand or an eye it was also Iucky that I had my phone on me as I normally leave it in the car but it was invaluable if not just to look on Google maps to find the name of the road that went past the field & of course for phoning it in ;)

I gave a brief statement over the phone but they may visit me for further information, I'm not sure they'll let me keep it if it's not claimed :D

Certainly a first for the club & a story to tell down the pub :)

it does look the part but i cant see any rust and that makes me wonder if it is indeed real ? looks like the safety catch has been broken off at the back of the top slide, chances are its a replica but better safe than sorry ::g

A very cool find but it's monkey metal indeed, and judging by the small magazine and split in the top slide it's a broken .177 CO2 air pistol so you should get it back from the police.

Hi
nice find..

will it still eject the mag?

if so eject it and check the contents :D
It does look like a small cal replica firearm like a BB etc but without checking the mag you wont really know :(
Id put something between the hammer and try and cock the barrel back and eject that loaded round!

but thats me(and im not known for my sanity)but i wouldnt recommend it unless you have a blast shield and something to protect your hands etc,so id leave that for the cops,but pressing the mag release should be fine!..

lets us know if it turns out to be a replica.

Wasn't going to mention this, but found quite a few live pistol rounds in the spoil before I found the gun but these got chucked in the bushes as I found them, so it's definately real d; 8-|

Have you had it handed back yet ? rounds or no rounds it's not the genuine article.

Here is a pic of a Umarex CO2 Beretta 92 air pistol showing the identical features to yours, crack in the top slide, half size magazine (inline with the grip screws) and the biggest giveaway is the lip on the front of the mag which is used to lock in the CO2 cylinder, no real Beretta would ever have that overhang.

An interesting find; I await your report from the police! Sounds to me like you did every thing right. Did you tell the police that you chucked the live rounds in the hedge? ::g
