Ammunition...?

Post by Grub »

Hi folks, hope you're well!

Probably a daft question and one that's been asked many times before, (I tried a 'Search' first with little joy), but what's the craic when it comes to finding ammunition?
I've been finding a fair few rifle bullets just lately, completely intact and unfired. The Mrs is a bit dubious about them being in the house in case they're unstable and/or possibly illegal.

Any tips on safety and the legal aspect would be appreciated.

Cheers. ::g

Definitely illegal, and possibly unstable.

Best advice is to hand in to local constabulary. If unsure, leave in situ and ring. Whether they come out or not is another matter...

There is a sticky post in the military ordnance forum about this very subject. Long and short of it is, regardless of how long a live round has been in the ground, it is still quite capable of going off if mistreated. Not only is possession of a live round without the appropriate licence illegal, but so is possession of certain types of bullet on their own, (in other words, not connected to a cartridge).

All live rounds should be handed in to the local police station on the day you find them.
