I was out on a pasture field which normally only chucks up lead scrap and buttons but for some reason i find myself drawn to it even when i have closer permissions.
I hit a hotspot and found coin after coin, all be it only coppers, George's etc, few nice patterned buttons but then I had a couple of signals where i dug a clod of soil/grass out that was probably no more than 5-6 inches thick. Id scan the hole, and scan the clod (clod was turned upside down with the grass on the bottom and the mud on the top) and my signal vanished. I then flipped the clod over so it was grass side up and my signal returned again, and we are not talking weak signal im talking belting copper coin signal.... So what im saying is when I scanned the clod, from the bottom mud side it showed no signal, but when i flipped the clod and scanned it from the grass side the signal returned.
The finds were coppers or buttons and where 1 - 2 inches below the grass so how come it wasnt picking the finds up from the bottom of the clod? It seems to me my Deus is only detecting upto 3 - 4 inches down? As said i dug a few clods out, signal dissapeared but when i flipped the clod the find was 2 inches inside the clod just below the grass.
Is GMP the correct setting to be using? Ive found if i adjust sensitivity it just makes it really annoying to use it seems to sound off all the time and its hard to pinpoint a target where as in standard GMP its more stable?
Thanks
