Iron Volume 4
Manual GB 90
If there's loads of iron coming through keep raising the Descrim but I'd never go higher than 5
Take the controller off, once set up.
My last hammered came through at 59
Dig every good signal (end of story), the iffy signals buzz/beeps that's down to judgement that's been gained by experience. Try lots of iffy signals is my advice, you may be surprised. Expect a low chatty iron buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz as you sweep the detector across the ground. I don't mind it anymore (I used to hate it!). You just get to hear everything. I do believe the high reactivity and 18kHz is not the deepest setting to search but I do think it's the most accurate method of searching through unbelievable amounts of iron that's on nearly every site I go to. There's mineralization, iron contamination everywhere! If you insist on using the controller don't let the numbers take preference over the audio. WHAT YOU HEAR is paramount. The I.D. definitely becomes erratic or unreliable for deep smaller targets. Plus you are more likely to ignore signals when you get tired, hot or frustrated from a poor initial hunt.
The most important point, that I don't think's been covered is: it has to be in the ground in the first place, so the site is everything. If you have the good fortune to find a productive site: HAMMER IT!

I wish you all the best on your next hunt
