Yea it's 50 cal dave. 14mm dia. It was encased in a ball of beach crud with only the tip sticking out. Once knocked off it left the f1 number perfectly preserved. Most the shells from this area are dated 1914 up to 45

Not seen FI / F1 before.
Royal Ordnance sometimes but a Broad Arrow on the base of a bullet.
Does not look like a standard 50 Cal boat tail. Was wondering if it might be fill incendiary. Sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

I have seen your bullet posted up on a friend of mines WWII Facebook group who is an expert, he doesn't seem to be around at the moment, but he will know for sure exactly what it is

Am sort of guessing with a Vickers round, " Semi Armour Piercing F Mark 1 " I didnt realize base markings on the actual bullet was so common till you posted this Tomo

Of all the bullets I've found I've never seen a Base mark on one so presumed the encrusting tomb protecting the bullet all these years preserved the stamp maybesalloverover wrote:Am sort of guessing with a Vickers round, " Semi Armour Piercing F Mark 1 " I didnt realize base markings on the actual bullet was so common till you posted this Tomo![]()
