Was out on a dig today, and there was an almighty bang, immediate thought was that some idiot had just pulled the pin on a grenade, and then it dawned on us ... could only have been another V4 update ... meeting its maker! :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

I have called Regton's this morning and spoke to Nigel who was very helpful
Have been advised to put the coil on charge and then try the update while coil is still on charge
failing that I have to send the coil back to them.
I will try this later and keep you updated

That's exactly what they told me to do, my 9 inch coil randomly rebooted after the update as well. Regton asked me to send them everything (2 coils, ws4 and remote) i was without a machine for about 3 or 4 weeks and had to wait an extra couple of weeks for the 11 to come back from france
all the gear, no idea!

They will repair or replace depending on the problem ;;z

Thats very good news ... but does the update come with a manufacturers warning ... akin to those on fag packets "this update may give your coil a terminal condition"

Just to let you all know
I got the coil back from XP and the PCB board had failed (During the update I guess)
so the coil now has a new PCB board
it came back with version 3.2 so I then upgraded to V4 and it all worked fine

I've seen this a couple of times. In the past month.

The way I managed to sort it was by placing the coil back on charge again.

it seems that the coil can get in a pickle.

Put it back on charge and within a couple of minutes it reinitialised and then connected showing full charge.
