Beach coins - I'm knackered

Post by fred »

This morning I started out towards a beach a tad more distant than my usual haunts. As I drove down the coast I stopped off at all the normal places of interest to see how they were looking after the storms. The first couple had filled in with sand but the next one, which had a slightly different orientation, had cut out so I suited up and got stuck in.

There were signals everywhere and I spent a large part of the next four hours digging spending money out of the compacted shingle. there was very little about other than coins and junk. The only jewellry was the steel ring from about a foot down. I did spend about an hour on the sand but although it was nice and black as usual decent signals were few and far between. I have no idea what the coin total was but a rough sort suggested about £37 in spending money plus a few foreigners and pre decimals.

Thank god I only have the gardens of a 15thC house to do tomorrow - no more walking! :D

Hello Fred ::g You certainly had a busy session there Fred! ::g With that many positive targets showing up, you'd think a bit of yellow would have the decency to pop out! Hope it shows up next time ::g All the best. Regards ss47

Seventeen out of the eighteen pound coins were old ones. I reckon that we will be cashing them in for decades to come. :D

It is quite unusual for gold rings to come out when I'm coin shooting on beaches. This is probably because the coins tend to be bunched together up near the high tide line whilst rings are generally out on the sand. ::g

Tryed the cuts / soft/wet.Vlf/ pi detectors. All I've found is random dropage 99% in the soft.(A mate at hunstantion hit the jackpot and found what he described as biscuit tin size container quantity of rings in one spot ). All ive had is a few pre decimal near the ship pub. A hoard of £1 coins I think a fiver in on hit in the soft. . 1 x 9ct kids ring in 8yrs. Prob someone beating to me too it. Generally £35 a yr a lot of times £0.00. 42 visits to the beach in 2017 But it keeps me out of the way while Mrs swims
