Just the basic Relic mode with sensitivity on max and volume gain on 21. For some reason not much junk about except iron. ::g

Ah ok thanks.

Could the lack of junk be because it was a fresh gully, so the lighter and modern ring pulls and caps where still in the now washed away top layer?

Search the gully's to find the denser older stuff, could this be a cunning plan?

There generally isn't that much junk, although that depends upon what you call junk. I do find quite a lot of shrapnel and bullets but I enjoy finding them myself as they are great indicators of the the age of the layer that you are dealing with.

Searching gullies is a very well known tactic anyway if for no other reason that they cut down through the three or four feet of yellow sand towards the black stuff. Once you are near black sand a powerful detector will give you the edge. I avoid P.I.s because of all the iron but the CTX seems to handle it ok, as Explorers did before that and Sovereigns before them. ::g Can you tell that I am a fan of Minelabs? :D

3 or 4 feet that's not a gully, it's more like a chasm??

Good to hear that Minelab machines handle the conditions. The Equinox is on my list, subject to some independent reviews - Hopefully on here.

Though ML say about that the Equinox "Beach Mode however, can only perform successfully in typical beach conditions in Multi, therefore single frequencies are not available.

If the hype about this machine doesn't pan out and it's not great on wet sand, do you think it could be setup manually to a fixed frequency in another mode?

I have no idea and, even though I intend to get one, we appear unlikely to get the chance to find out its real capabilities anytime soon. :D

I know where you're coming from. On the plus side for me, it will give some extra time to try and get some inland permissions before I commit my hard earned ::g
