6 Pounder Flathead?

Post by hobster »

Hi,found this yesterday, does anyone have any information on this type of shell as in all of my research into 6 pounder AP shells I have never come across any info or pictures regarding this type of shell. It has no tracer element whatsoever and is completely solid. Any help with this would be gratefully received thanks.

Is it possibly a training round or dummy round. We used something similar that was solid whilst training on tanks.

The rifled groves in the drive band leads me to think it's actually been fired so is it a drill round?

this type would give more of a whack as its flat not rounded would open out more creating bigger hole maybe to make an entrance into a building or would that nock the building down
