Interesting item there, and thanks for the info about it. All the WWII items I keep finding here are shrapnel from anti-aircraft rounds, I live in the main flight path to London, and very close to what used to be a munitions factory, I am interested in History, and it is amazing how much stuff is in the ground, do you find much shrapnel there as well ?

Never really fancied digging recent battlefields myself. Something I can't quite put my finger on puts me off.

Third Reich stuff is very in demand and commands high prices . I know a friend who found a 1937 Reich Mark complete with swastika. I think he got a fair amount when he sold it.

id love to find some ww11 stuff so many stories about almost everything you may find buried out there . one story sticks in my mind ,my late dad used to work in the british museum as a security guard (he was there fro almost 35 years ) and a metal detectorist strolled up to the gates with a big ruck sack and pulled out a complete spitfire cannon he found while searching down near dover somewhere .how effing cool would that be ? as a result they found a lost downed spitfire which is now marked as a grave as the pilot was still in his cockpit when he crashed. they believed before that he ditched in the channel . hats off to those guys

I recommend Belgium if you're into that sort of thing. From personal experience, because you've had the first and second world wars there, it has alot of stuff. Just walking along a path through a ploughed field you can pick stuff up off the ground. Put me off it a bit though when I pulled out a live artillery round, nearly died from shock/explosion! There's so much unexploded ordinance the tractors there are armour plated on the bottom to protect the farmers.
I left with:
Barbed wire
Spent rounds
Live rounds (gave to farmer to put in his pile of arty shells though)
Shrapnel
A British helmet, very rusted
