It's an American .30 cal, manufactured by the Twin Cities Ordnance Plant, Minneapolis.

Hi Doug. It's .30 caliber mate, not 30mm.

The .30 cal was used in a variety of American weapons, including

M1 Garand rifle
Springfield .30-06 bolt action rifle
Browing Automatic Rifle (BAR)
Browning M1919 Machine Gun
Minelab Equinox 600 and Minelab Pro-Find 35

You'll need to post sizes mate, or place something next to it for scale.

If it's larger than a standard rifle round, then it's probably a .50 caliber round.
