My finds from todays outing

Post by 3pinplug »

Hi all,

Found these today but not seen anything like them before.

The brass item is approx 3 ~ 5mm thick and is concave on both sides, there appears to be the remnants of a chrome surface in the convex parts. Its 28mm overall in length and has a small lug on one edge - anyone seen one of these before (photos blank 1 & 2) ?

The other grey / metal is 48mm in diameter at the circular part and the tapering small tubular part is 10~12mm diameter. Overall length of the piece is 84mm.
Any ideas on what these two are? (phot item1)
Thanks
Mark

No idea unfortunately mate. I innitialy thought the item in the first picture was a Bren carry handle, but looking again it looks far too small. :(

Second pic is a brass thumbscrew. The threaded bit has been snapped off.
Put thumbscrew into google images.

They don't resemble any military item that I know of. It would help if you could tell us what kind of site you were on. RAF base ? Gunnery range ?

Cheers

Hi All,
It was a beach / gunnery range, was finding lots of used .303 catridges and found these within the same area where I was digging the catrridges, didn't recognise them so thought they may be miliatary - was miles away on that one!
Thanks for all the replies, very much appreciated.
