What gun fired this?

Post by steve123 »

Hello.

Can any of you experts out there tell me what gun would have fired this round. The one i am interested in is the one on the left. It is slightly bigger than a .50 cal and was found on the site of some old rifle butts. The middle bullet is , i believe from a Martini Henry 577/450 and the other is a .303 for size comparison.

Probably fired from Snider Enfield,Conversion from rifled musket to breech loader.
It should have a clay ceramic plug in the base though this may have dislodged on impact.

Cheers Andy.

It does indeed have an orange coloured substance in the base so i think your id is spot on. They must have given one hell of a kick when fired.
