a find from many years ago.

Post by doug1973 »

Now after finding what i did in my mates garden it jogged my memory of a large heavy object i found many years ago.

When i found it it was along eastney in portsmouth along where a lot of boats moor
and i thought i was simply a weight, to stop the small boats drifting ect.

however after seeing lots of posts of ordenance on hear ect it got me wondering and worrying about if that was what it really is.

i have used it as a door stop in my garage for many years.

there is a small whole/indentation at the top. "where i thought a chain was attached"
And only while taking pics to show you on hear i noticed what looks like a groove / join running around the bottom.

should i be worried about this thing thats been sitting in my garage for many many years?

I wouldn't worry about it. It may well be the bottom portion of an armour piercing round, but these contain no explosive at all. There is no fuse or method of setting off any type of charge and you're probably right with your first guess.

That's a relief , thank you

Wish I could tell if was from an amour piercing round or just a weight

I know which I would prefer it to be.
