ID please Bullet?
Hi... Please can somebody give me any ideas on this? It was found in my field with my garrett 400.
Roughly 90mm long and 13mm diameter. Am I allowed to keep it? Apologies for the Winnie the Pooh ruler! Thanks.

Think its steel, but not sure as quite rusty. Heavy for the size though and solid all the way through. Few people looked at it... all pretty sure bullet of some sort ( couple farmers and farrier who all shoot regularly) has a possible indent on the end... photos are pretty rubbish. I will see if I can get better pics later.

Yes... Our field had search lights in it. lots of planes came over our land ... pony killed by bomb in field next door too. Daughters history teacher suggested .50 browning machine gun? Possibly fell out plane?

My money is on a fired or damaged round eg jammed and discarded, the cartridge which is the normally brass case containing propellent would have been on a either metal or a combination of metal or fabric link which you may have seen on various films, don't think it would have fell out of a plane or the brass would have been attached and it would be live possibly
If you are not finding the cartridge cases it was fired from a distance away be that either aircraft or otherwise, thats my best guess.
